GROUP:  Eastern Inside Plant
STEWARD:  3 Years

I wanted to become a Job Steward to assist my fellow coworkers. To be an asset for them in their time of need”

   Cassandra Haynesworth

GROUP:  Eastern Outside Plant
STEWARD:  NEW
LOCATION:  Elmhurst Lane

I decided to become a job steward for several reasons....
First, being a union steward places you in a position to
understand and prioritize work related concerns of fellow
coworkers. Second, stewards have the opportunity to
educate new hires and others on the importance of being a union member. Therefore, my decision to become a union
steward is based on the desire to educate and provide assistance to my fellow workers, addressing concerns or discrepancies relating to the company leadership"

   Brian McClure

GROUP:  Eastern Outside Plant
STEWARD:  NEW
LOCATION:  Elmhurst Lane

Due to the lack of Job Stewards at my local garage, and the increasing number of new hires, I have decided to become a Steward to serve as a presence in the workplace for Local 2201”

   Elyse Campbell

GROUP:  Eastern Inside Plant
STEWARD:  NEW
LOCATION:  Sewells Point Road

“I wanted to be a steward in order to speak up
on behalf of my Brothers and Sisters in cases of
unfair and unjust treatment. Also, to protect the
General Agreement”

   Oren Larkin

GROUP:  Eastern Outside Plant
STEWARD:  NEW
LOCATION:  Lynn Street

I wanted to be a steward so I can be part of the solution and not the problem”

   Curt Puckett

GROUP:  Eastern Outside Plant
STEWARD:  6 Years
LOCATION:  Battlefield Boulevard

I have been a Job Steward for several years. I am at the Battlefield (former GTE) garage.  When
I transferred over, we only had one Job Steward. When FIOS crews opened up, and the Battlefield garage
got busy... we had a need for more Stewards.  Chad Holsten twisted my arm a little... but I’m glad that he did.  I enjoy being able to help my co-workers by keeping management accountable to the contract
"

   Anthony Marciano

GROUP:  Eastern Outside Plant
STEWARD:  20 Years
LOCATION:  Colonial Road

“I started at Verizon in April of 97. Coming from a
union background, it was a no brainer to be in the
union. My first 2 to 3 years working for Verizon, I
needed the union to protect my job a lot! I was hired
at 22 years of age and had no experience in the field
of Telcom at all. Well, someone had to have the lowest productivity and highest repeats and that was me.  I got married and had a daughter with a son on the way.
I tried my best at my job but the company in my mind
made an example out of me to keep others
in line. The President of Local 2202, Louie Scinaldi, now a
retiree, former stewards George Fuller and Bobby
Mitchell were there for me that whole time. Without
them, the Local and others I don’t know I would still
be here. When I got on solid ground it was a no brainer, I wanted to help others the way they helped me. I could never repay or show how much this meant to me and my family. So, I do my best representing my fellow workers."

   Richard Soriano

GROUP:  American Airlines
STEWARD:  3 Years

I became a Job Steward to help my fellow employees. I wanted to make sure they were treated fairly and equally.  I wanted to make sure my fellow agents felt supported and protected”

   Eddie High

GROUP:  Eastern Outside Plant
STEWARD:  15 Years
LOCATION:  Lynn Street

“I became a Union Steward in 2006. We had a second level named Scott Smith. He was running our members in the ground. We had two stewards in our garage and they were overworked with grievances. So, Anthony Marciano said I drove him crazy when we argued and I should be using my annoying arguments to good use. I’ve been using my annoying arguments ever since”

Tracy Thorpe-Taylor

GROUP: Inside Plant Operations
STEWARD:
LOCATION:

"Hi I'm Tracey Thorpe-Taylor, I became a steward because I want honestly, fairness and consistency within the company. I was tired and frustrated when I kept seeing people being mentally abused by management. I was also disappointed when seeing our union members " choosing” not to bet familiar with the contract and their rights."

Pam Gaines

GROUP: Inside Plant Operations
STEWARD:
LOCATION:

"My name is Pam Gaines and I became a steward to help with issues occurring in our office and not let management get away with anything."
